chez fairy butler

Here you go Sloth. This feels a little weird, posting this here, but it may explain my fixation with old, goofy brick buildings. This pic is old from a couple of years ago. so no more for sale sign and the lot on the right is now paved (sort of) so it is a little less sanford and son. this is where the dogs are - sometimes the dog rapes, etc. Now we have flower boxes on the fence - obviously empty at present. ghosts steal the flowers sometimes. anyway, our place is a hobbit hole on the inside - there's an addition on back and stuff that you can't see from the front (which is just as well). undecover of the night.

Comments:
FB, your building is SO CUTE! LOVE!!!

easy there killer.

Your place rocks the casbah! Your kitchen alone is the size of my apt.

"dog rapes" . :/

::nervous laughter::

do you ever hang out on yr roof, or does the backyard space suffice? I always fantasize about roofdecks.

tood. i am waiting for the spring rapes. they are bound to happen. it is a regular puppy mill next door.

FENCE.

Sloth, no real roof access and i would be afraid to step on it - we just had it fixed and it is all fucked up up there. i do have a fantasy of building an addition to connect to the back part- a studio on top of the front part and maybe another bedroom. It would be so kickass but i don't know if the foundation could handle it. the house is slipping away as it is.

You might be able to shore up the foundation... not as impossible as it sounds. An engineer could tell you what it would take.

money pit --- except we just live with the sub-standard. this year is time for the fence and putting in grass and more plants. love the plants. must create oasis. hide.

yes sloth, you are right. i think the front part of the house is here to stay - the addition is the screwy part and an engineer could probably help. it may be on the agenda at some point in the future. shall see. it's scary though. i almost don't want to know.

we had an inspector, of course, and he assured us it was in really good shape - but the dude was not an engineer. basically the prob is the building next door leaning on us.

i prefer to live in the dream world of denial for the time being.

Understood and sentiment shared, FB. Witness piece of packing tape holding light switch together in Log.

i wish was a genius contractor - or had a good friend who was. ours moved away to florida. very depressing. now i no trust.

I try to fix things and take things apart and such. i cut wood. but some things are beyond my reach.

you need Bogden. will send you the info.

items Slothy has done to family dune shack:

shingling
roofing
plumbing installation
deck construction
replacing parts of entire house
drilled a well
etc.

of course, the place is made basically of driftwood, so it's not so much of a challenge.

sloth, are you available for hire?!

Wow!! i am impressed. sometimes i think that i would like to be the woman electrician/plumber that people can hire because i will not be weird or high. and i will charge normal rates. i am fascinated by the electric stuff but arthur doesn't like me noodling with the stuff - understandably.

Really though, i think this kind of work - fixing homes - must be very satisfying. to see things improved and fixed.

my only skill is tiling and caulking - also love the drywall compound.

also: i am always afraid of uncovering badness in the form of skeletons or nuclear reactors in home hidden behind walls.

Electrical is best left to professionals, but that never stopped me. Am secretly hoping for that shock that interrupts the crazy brain-loops.

Tiling, huh? perhaps we can trade services.

maybe you would find treasure there, FB. happens.

well, i tiled the backsplash in the kitchen - purely decorative tiling. it was fun.

here is what i might find behind a wall:

- decomposed remains of rats, mice, and/or crack addict/ho
- mold forest disaster
- code red
- toothpicks holding house together - termite hoardes.
- portal to the other side
- entry point to sewer
- mafia burial ground (house was supposed hang-out between the world wars we think)
- my neighbors

i would prefer to find a rainbow that leads to the skittle lake combo video game-karaoke bar where i drink free of charge.

Tiling seems like it would be up your ally, FB, considering your art tendencies. I just like wearing a toolbelt & feeling macho playing with power tools, demolition/chopping things up, etc... Funs! Not terribly pro, but the obsessive quality of carpentry is very slothesque.

If you find the skittle-lake rainbow free drinx bar, please let me know. In the meantime, maybe you could draw me a picture of it.

You have a crest?! cool... maybe there's an old photo somewheres.

so happy to see this! it is such a cute house. Now, what does one have to do to wrangle an invite over?

hi jen! come over this weekend - are you around on sunday? we will be around. call me. i'm listed.

mb we can all just meet on the blog...logging in nekid and filthy, cheap whiskey on our breaths, frantically hitting refresh.

err.

I'll come over!
